Almost 30 years to the day since we were last there in May 1995 we visited the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire for a Spring National Meet on 18th May. It was a grey and very chilly start to the day but spirits were high and only lifted futher with Shuttleworth’s resident Spitfire in the air above giving us a full display. Eventually it warmed up and the sun came out after lunch just in time for prize giving and the chance to pose a few of our MkIIs in front of the main hanger.

Elsewhere on site, Shuttleworth House was busy hosting BBC’s Antiques Roadshow with Fiona Bruce spotted with the film crew in the hangers and out on the airfield with the Spitfire before it took off.

Chairman Graham Bird was on hand for the prize giving after lunch but the awards were not given for usual categories.
