.....

5/2/16  The Ford Cortina MkII Owners Club was never set up to be about winning prizes. Right from the start, way back in 1988, it always was (and always will be) about bringing MkII Cortina enthusiasts togethere to help keep the cars on the road, and having a great time in doing so.  Thats not to say however, that we don't appreciate it when a prize does come our way.  In fact, we are very proud to have picked up some great awards over the years, from the "Best Themed Club Stand" at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC (see below) to the Classic Ford magazine "Classic Car Club of the Year" for our Cortinas To Cortina road run (see HERE ) to celebrate the 50th anniversary, as well as many individual awards such as the Classic Car Weekly "Best Club Magazine" that went to editor Phil Lewis and the Hagerty Insurance sponsored "Unsung Club Hero", won by club spares man Rod Smith for his many years of hard work tracking down parts and getting others remanufactured to keep our cars running.

We are delighted to discover today that we have been shortlisted for the forthcoming Practical Classic magazine awards in the category of "Outstanding use of Social Media" for our Facebook group.  A wonderful surprise given that we didn't even know we'd been nominated!  To everyone who put our name forward, many many thanks!  Our thanks also to everyone who contributes to the Facebook group, it is your input that makes the group so great.

You can find our Facebook group HERE

....

1/2/16  The first club magazine of 2016 has arrived!  Indicator 143 gives us the full story from last November's Classic Motor Show at the NEC (for more photos from Birmingham please see HERE ) and the journey of Adrian Howe's Savage that we included on the display (along side the 1600E of Alec Ross and the Police Lotus of Graeme Farrar) made from it's barn resting place of nearly 30 years to the NEC.  Our youngest member, Jacob Blott tells us all about his rare "fleet model MkII and Australian member, Peter Meyer reports on the Cortina scene from down under.  Club spares man Rod Smith gives us part four of the restoration of his US spec 2dr 1600 Deluxe, and Phil Dunk tells us about some starting issues with his estate.  Other committee car news comes from assistant Geoff Moss who updates us on Chrisina and Trevor, his prize winning early 2dr GT and his Savage replica restoration project, and also from Events man, Charles Hanson who has been playing with his anti roll bar bushes.  Charles has also listed the first show dates for the 2016 season, Phil Lews reminds us of the need for new volunteers and Christine Fletcher reports from the Regalia Shop.  Another great issue of The Indicator not to be missed.

.....

24/1/16  Series I MkII Cortina Lotus SMP505F was stolen from a lock up on Hergest Industrial Estate, Kington, Herefordshire, HR5 between 13th & 23rd January 2016, with a possible sighting on the B4529 near Leominster on Thursday 21st being towed by a dark Navara/L200 style pick up on the trailer that was taken at the same time.  The trailer is a Brian James Clubman 1400 that had  had the number plate of DN55 FKL attached to it.  In the standard Lotus Cortina white/green colour scheme, SMP 505F is fitted with Minilite style wheels with little used Debica tyres.  The paint does have some blistering and marks, and the bumpers could benefit from re-chroming. An unusual feature is that it is fitted with 1600E seats which are very different to those of the Lotus. The engine has a polished cam cover, Janspeed exhaust manifold and stainless steel exhaust. An air filter box is not fitted.  Please contact your local police (or us via info@fordcortinamk2oc.co.uk ) with any information.

18/10/15  So, its October 18th, 2015 then is it? Happy 49th brithday to the Ford Cortina MkII.

Nineteen years ago today, to celebrate the MkIIs 30th birthday, a select few of our members were given the chance to see brand new Fiestas coming down the very same production line that the MkIIs had been built on all those years ago, before having a private visit to Fords own Heritage Collection.  A fantastic day was had by all.  Nine years ago, with most of the Dagenham plant gone, we had a special show hosted by the branch of Dagenham Motors nearest to the old factory, Another great day.

But now we turn our thoughts ahead to next year at the MkIIs 50th birthday. We have a number of ideas that we are working on, both for our National Rally at Stratford over the first weekend of August, and also a very special members only day celebration on this day next October 18th 2016.  Put the dates in your diaries now, we guarantee you're going to want to be there!!!!!
